I am a studio-based representational painter working primarily in oil. My work is grounded in classical European painting traditions and focuses on structure, restraint, and careful observation.
I develop each painting slowly in the studio, emphasizing composition, light, tonal balance, and form. Influenced by historical European art and traditional oil techniques, I build paintings through layered study and revision, creating work that values clarity, permanence, and compositional order.
I work in two related bodies of work. One draws from European landscape traditions and cultural memory. The other is inspired by the landscapes and light of the Central California Coast. While the subject matter differs, both share a commitment to representational clarity and classical structure.
My paintings are intended to reward sustained looking. Rather than focusing on narrative or spectacle, the work seeks quiet depth and continuity with established traditions. Each painting is developed as a complete and enduring object
